WHAT IS BIOREMEDIATION?
Over time, in many cases hundreds of years, microorganisms that are indigenous in the soil and water consume and slowly degrade organic contaminants thereby naturally remediating any pollutants. In the presence of oxygen, the normal bioflora degrade these organic pollutants (such as petroleum products, human and animal solid wastes, and other biomatter) to carbon dioxide, water and cell protein. In the absence of oxygen, the anaerobic bacteria naturally degrade the waste into methane, carbon dioxide and cell protein.
CURRENT METHODS OF BIOREMEMDIATION
Bioremediation has significant advantages over other remediation alternatives. Three current approaches to bioremediation are:
- Importation of specially engineered microorganisms that metabolize pollution. (Potentially damaging to the environment)
- Removal of the contaminated soil for treatment to breakdown the contaminants after which the soil is reinstalled. (Very costly)
- Contaminated soil is removed to a separate location where it is land filled and allowed to remediate itself. (Costly and wasteful)
WHAT DOES PETROCLEAN DO?
Petroclean's PRF, when added to soil or water, serves as a catalyst to stimulate the indigenous microorganisms to metabolize organic contaminants much faster than normal. Petroclean's PRF can accelerate a process that could take hundreds of years to a mere 60 to 90 days.
WHAT CAN PETROCLEAN DO FOR YOU?
Petroclean's proprietary PRF can assist you with projects such as:
- Decontaminate mildly to heavily organically polluted soil/water
- Petrochemical pipeline environmental maintenance
- In-situ oil spill remediation (soil or water)
- Septic tank and water sewage treatment plants
